What types of services are available?
Notarization of important documents such as Powers of Attorney, loan documents and submission release forms. Any document that would typically require a notarization.
Can you give legal advice?
No, only an attorney is allowed to give legal advice.
I am not an attorney licensed to practice law in Georgia and may not give legal advice or accept fees for legal advice.
Can I sign the document before I get it notarized?
A document with jurat wording (typically an oath or affirmation) MUST be signed in front of the notary. Documents with acknowledgment wording require only that the signer appear before the notary. They can be signed beforehand. If in doubt, wait until the notary arrives before signing.
Do I need a picture ID?
YES. A current government ID, such as a Driver's license or State of GA I.D. All IDs must include a physical description, photo, number and signature.
Are Marriage licenses or Social Security Cards acceptable forms of ID?
No. They do not meet the above requirement.
Can a faxed document be notarized?
Only if it bears an original signature after it has been faxed. Under no circumstances can a faxed or photocopied signature be notarized.
Does the name on the document have to match my ID exactly?
Not necessarily. However, the name on the document can be no more than the name on the ID. For example, if the name on the ID is "Mary Ellen Stone," the document can bear the names "Mary Stone," "Mary E. Stone," "M.E. Stone," but not "Mary Ellen Johnson Stone" or "M. F. Stone."
Are you mobile?
Yes, but mileage is an extra charge.
Can you notarize documents outside of Dekalb County?
Yes, I can notarize documents throughout the state of Georgia. However, I mainly service South Dekalb: Decatur, Lithonia, and Stone Mountain. I will consider other counties based on distance.
Do you charge a traveling fee?
Yes. Rates are based on distance.
Can I bring my documents to you?
Because I travel thoughout the Dekalb area, generally that is not practical. However, depending on my schedule, it sometimes can be arranged. PLEASE CALL.
